I'm Jason Devereux, a prophetic artist passionate about using creativity to communicate God's love, hope and truth. For more than 20 years, I've been on a journey of learning to hear God through art and creating images that speak to the hearts of those who see them.
My story
A journey back to hope

Around the age of 18 or 19, my life took a very difficult turn. A number of significant challenges and circumstances came together during that time, leading to a season of deep struggle and years in and out of hospital. Yet even in those darkest years, God was planting seeds of faith that would later transform my life.
Through it all, I found myself repeatedly drawn to the Bible…
What began in a place of brokenness became a journey of discovering hope, purpose and the love of God.

A shared life and mission
In 2012, I met Emma at a prayer and worship event at Leyton Orient football ground, held in preparation for the London Olympics.
We quickly connected through our shared passion for Jesus — talking to people on the streets, praying with them and watching God meet people exactly where they were.
We married in 2014, and since then we've shared a growing desire to bring the love of God to people who desperately need it — whether through words, drawings, prayer, or sometimes simply a hug.
Together, we've been involved in ministry and equipping trips, often going out onto the streets and asking the Holy Spirit how we can serve and encourage the particular community we're in.
The calling
Called to create
In 2003, I received a prophetic word from Julian Adams that would shape the direction of my life.
Amazingly, the day before hearing him speak, I had begun turning my spare bedroom into an art room. During the meeting, he spoke over me that I would become a prophetic artist for the nations and the Kingdom of God, and that my artwork would touch hearts and help bring healing to minds.
That word ignited a new passion in me to paint and create with God. For more than 20 years, I have continued this journey — learning, growing and discovering more of what God wants to communicate through art.
In 2017, I received another prophetic word encouraging me to remove distractions and focus more fully on God. I was encouraged that as I painted, the Holy Spirit would guide me with creative inspiration and heavenly insight.
Since then, I've continued to approach each piece as a partnership with God, praying that the artwork would carry His love, hope and presence to those who encounter it.

In simple terms
What is prophetic art?
To me, prophetic art is about listening to the Holy Spirit and responding creatively.
Sometimes God can communicate something through an image that reaches places words cannot. A picture might communicate wisdom, truth, love, joy, revelation or encouragement — bringing something meaningful to a person's heart or situation.
It begins with relationship. I ask, “Holy Spirit, what would You like me to create for this person?” Then I listen and respond through colour, imagery, words, poetry or painting.
Much like reading the Bible with the Holy Spirit, prophetic art is an invitation to listen, respond and allow God to speak through creativity. My hope is that each piece points beyond itself — helping people encounter God's love, hope and presence.

David's Tent
Art that meets people where they are
Back in 2019, we took a step of faith and joined the art team at David's Tent — a 72-hour non-stop Christian worship event held in a big top in a field.
As part of the art team, we offer short prophetic art appointments to delegates who sign up. Each year, we have the privilege of seeing hundreds of people receive drawings created specifically for them.
Alongside the appointments, artists create and worship through different painting styles and techniques within the big top.
These moments continually remind me why I create: because God can meet people in places of pain, confusion and uncertainty and bring hope, encouragement and a reminder of how deeply they are loved.

The heart behind the art
Why I create
I'm passionate about seeing people encounter Jesus and discover the hope found in Him.
I love reading the Bible because it continually grows my faith, and I express my love for God through creativity. When I create, my hope is that people don't simply see a painting — but that they encounter something that speaks to their heart.
I believe God has given each of us gifts and talents for a reason. For me, art is one of the ways I can bring light into dark places, encourage people and communicate something of God's heart.
I still wrestle with comparison at times, but I'm continually learning that I don't need to create like anyone else. God made me uniquely, and my calling isn't to imitate someone else's journey. It's to faithfully walk the one He's given me.

Psalm 37:4
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Delight. Desire. Trust.

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Surrender. Direction. Trust.
These verses remind me that God's plans are bigger than my own, and that faithfulness matters more than comparison.
Where I am today
Still creating. Still listening.
Today, I'm still creating prophetic art and learning what it means to partner with God through creativity.
After more than 20 years, I'm still discovering new ways that art can communicate His love, bring encouragement and shine light into difficult places.
I don't believe the journey is finished. I'm excited to see where God leads next — and who He might choose to reach through the next painting.
